This exhibition looked at domestic labour and activity by painting and sewing into tapestries. The image of a tapestry is extremely domestic and in some ways banal, but so many interesting things happen on their surfaces.
The front side of the tapestry is like a paint by numbers; perfect and seamless, whereas the underside exposes the hidden labour of the person sewing it— it renders a slippage of perfection and is a marker of the labourers hand.
